Good turns need to be managed and slide-slips, step-ups sideways, traverses and kick turns are really important in heliskiing. A heliskier should have "graduated" to professional equipment and should be able to understand the main differences between professional and non-professional equipment. The differences can save one's life. However, in heliskiing, when challenging mother nature, anything is possible and all Heli-ski operators will ask for the signature on personal responsibility before skiing.

A good skiing gear is required and physical exercise is a must before skiing.
