Cars among America Teens

There is a trend that the population of America teens who drive to school has decreased. Why is it? Does that mean teens do not like hanging out with their friends with their car? Recent research shows many America young generations tends to chat to their friends on facebook and twitter, which is opposed to the years ago when they spend time cruising around in cars.

In the past years, you would be coolest kids if you drove you own car since car was the expression of the personal character. Having a car in the U.S. simply means you have personal mobility and you have grown up. But with the recession in most of the America family, and the cost of gas increasing, some teens have to choose between buying a latest iphone or laptop and owning a vehicle.

There is a survey which is published later this year by Gartner, 46% of 18 to 24 years old teens said they like surfing on the internet, instead of having their own car. Some people even said they wanted to drive out with friends, but when they started to do, most of them choose stay home, chatting to their friends. Although some teens were ridiculed a little bit in their peer groups who waste a lot of time online, those teens would like update their Facebook status rather than driving around town.

In 2008, it was just 30% of 16 years olds had obtained their driving licence, compare to 1978 when the figure was 50% in America. In UK, there were 1.85% of total licence holders in 2010. All of those evidences show us car are not popular as before after the gas prices has doubled to $4.12 a gallon and the economy has been to recession.

In fact, car will not be out of fashion in America. There are a lot of states haven't mass transit and many teenagers are in the need of cars. However, "American youth have fallen out of love with automobiles" owing to the high cost of vehicle and the case that they want to live their lives online.

Some parts of teens still love fast cars. They think those cars are cool, stylish and sexy. Nevertheless, no matter how much passion they have, they hardly have chance to drive fast due to increased traffic congestion and the fact teens lack driving skills. All in all, America teens aren't obsessed with cars. Instead, they focus on talking online. While at the meantime, America teens will feel comfortable with their car.

Author Resource:- If you want to save money on your car, you'd better know the basic knowledge about routine maintenance and take good care of your engine. The best thing you can do is to buy some eco-friendly aftermarket car parts online, such as air filter and LED tail lights.
