The Aesthetically Pleasing HTC Rhyme Is Packed With Impressive Specifications

The HTC Rhyme is an Android smartphone pitched towards the female market. With its purple colour scheme, it certainly looks the part. The specifications of the handset are what you may expect from any other mid range Android smartphone.

In this article I will provide an overview of the key features of this handset.

The handset measures up at 116.8x 61x 10.8mm, so it is pretty average in terms of its dimensions and is quite slim which makes it comfortable to hold and use, and fits easily into a pocket or handbag. The front comfortably houses the 3.7 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, which produces good image display quality thanks to its resolution of 480x 800, which is pretty much the standard for a mid range smartphone, and makes it versatile enough to use for multimedia use such as viewing photos, playing games, watching videos and browsing the web. As with most HTC handsets which run Android, there are four touch sensitive capacitive shortcut keys at the bottom of the screen.

4 GB of internal storage is provided as standard which can hold a decent amount of data, with a microSD card slot on standby to increase the storage capacity by up to 32 GB by installing an appropriate SD card. There is an 8 GB card included as standard so out of the box users have 12 GB at their disposal.

Internet browsing is a pleasure with the HTC Rhyme. In areas with 3G coverage, download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps means this handset is on par with higher end HTC smartphones like the Sensation and Desire HD. Wi-Fi connectivity is of course included, so users can enjoy an enhanced connection free of charge whenever they have access to local wireless networks.

The HTC Rhyme is a pretty good camera phone; with a 5 megapixel unit on hand to produce pleasing results. It has a resolution of 2592x 1944, so images are produced with impressive levels of quality and clarity. Autofocus, LED flash, and geo-tagging are all included as standard to keep operation simple and effective. The handset can capture 720p HD video footage and there is a secondary camera at the front. This can be used to capture self portrait photos and video calls with parties who have a compatible smartphone.

The operating system on the HTC Rhyme is the latest version of Android, called Gingerbread. The latest version of HTC Sense (v3.5), the manufacturer’s custom Android interface also makes an appearance, and allows users to customise their handset to a high degree with multiple homescreens, apps, widgets and colour schemes. Alongside a 1 GHz scorpion processor, a great user experience is assured.

Many of the features of this handset are reminiscent of the HTC Desire, the phone that won the “Phone of the Year” award from T3 magazine. With the added benefit of an upgraded operating system and eye catching aesthetics, the HTC Rhyme looks like a winner.
