CHRISTMAS FILMS FOR YOUNG TODDLERS OF THE FAMILY
|
Sunday school teachers, Play House teachers, or even parents of children who are just starting Pre School, Kinder, and Nursery would want to celebrate the festivities with the kids in a special way. As movies have become a big part of the traditions surrounding Christmas, many people would want to give the young members of the family something to watch that would give them lessons and good values in life especially in their developmental years.
Finding a movie for this age range is difficult and finding an appropriate cartoon is a hassle especially now that plenty of animated shows pretend to display good values. One movie that adults can show to the young children is Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure. Dora the Explorer series is very popular to young children and a Christmas special of the series might just get their attention and interest, not to mention learn important lessons from the characters. In the story, Dora asks Santa Claus to reconsider Swiper’s name included in the Naughty list. Swiper is a mean fox who always steals clues during Dora’s journey. Because of his naughty ways, Santa placed him on the naughty list and he will not receive anything from him. Dora wants to help Swiper so he can be on the nice list and receive his Christmas gift. Both of them travel in time for Swiper to realize the true meaning of Christmas. This show is perfect for kids since they will recognize Dora’s compassion and mercy to help Swiper even though he steals her clues. They can also learn the true meaning of Christmas through the journey Dora and Swiper embarked.
Another movie perfect for preschool students is Veggie Tales: The Star of Christmas. With this movie, you can make vegetables look less intimidating while still spreading the Christmas cheer and spirit. Veggie Tales is a series that stars anthropomorphic vegetables teaching Christianity to children. The Christmas special tells the story of two vegetables, Bob the tomato and Larry the cucumber, as they plan to stage a play they wrote about the Princess and the Plumber. Unfortunately, an orphanage will also be staging a play about the Nativity the same time the two friends are doing their work. Bob and Larry tried to make their play better than the Nativity but in the end, they realized the true meaning of Christmas through the Nativity.
Movies for children that show valuable lessons are important so that they can learn from it. It is better for them to watch it in a creative and fun way because they will enjoy learning. Christmas movies for kids will also reinforce the values and important reason why we celebrate Christmas every year. |
