Buying a classic Car

Now that you are ready to buy that classic car of your dreams, there are many avenues you can explore such as classic car magazines, online sites or the one that we recommend a classic car auction. However these events can be overwhelming so it is not advisable for the faint hearted. You can expect large crowds, lots of noise, fierce competition and an atmosphere filled with excitement and adrenaline.
Auctions are great place to find good deals on that great classic car you have always wanted; you would have the opportunity to view a large amount of cars first hand, all in the same location. The viewing of these cars by prospective buyers is usually held days prior to the auctions so ensure you are there so that you can check out the finer details. Once you have identified the car that you want to bid on, you would need to decide on the maximum you are willing to spend and stick to it. Do not let the adrenaline rush or excitement take you to a place that you will regret going, bear in mind that there will be other auctions and other similar cars so if you don't get the one your heart desires now, you will surly get it later.
A good idea is to visit a few auctions before the big event so that you get a feel for what it is like and develop a comfort zone. Also, after a while you will be able to identify the different strategy being used by bidders. For example some bidders may bid aggressively to intimidate other bidders while some may sit quietly in the background until the hammer is just about to drop.
On the day of the auction you should get yourself a sale catalog so you can determine what time the car you want to bid on will be up for auctions so you can spend the rest of the day without panicking about missing a chance to bid. Ensure you know what you are bidding on, if there was anything you were not clear on, clarify it, after all this is a big investment. Also, know the terms and condition of the auction, make enquires about any fees or taxes to be added to the auctioned price etc.
We do hope you are feeling more confident about the big day and we would like to wish you happy bidding!
