Greenhouses:
We all very well know that greenhouses are an efficient way to grow variety of crops including flowers. As every coin has two sides, greenhouses have detractors claiming them to be adversely affecting the environment. But, since the advantages are much more compared to the said disadvantages, greenhouses are being developed all over the world. Greenhouses help prevent too much heat or too much cold from affecting the crops, also keeping pests away. Since any land can be made arable using greenhouses, it helps in improving total production of crops for the ever growing population of the earth.
What are Greenhouse Specifications?
As the term is self-explanatory, these specifications explain in detail how greenhouses should be constructed. There are also certain rules and regulations also that need to be followed while building these houses. Since many types of greenhouses are available, one should first go through the available types, their features. Then a feasibility study should follow to decide the type of greenhouse that is suitable to be built. Obviously, the factors that should be thought over would include they materials availability, soil types and moreover the capital available.
In general following materials are and should be specified in the specifications list:
Design Loads
Dead load, snow load, wind load any special load etc. should be initially decided and mentioned in the greenhouse specifications.
Materials to be Used
Extrusions, Aluminum sheets, aluminum plates, their exact types and quantities should be mentioned.
The parts that need to be mentioned are - Connections, Posts, Anchor Bolts, Rafters, Roof Purlins Trusses, Wall Sills, Condensation System, Glazing Members, and Lapped Glass, Gables and Partitions etc.
Fasteners
Non-load bearing screws and bolts and their required types number of items should be listed.
Glazing Materials
Fully tempered clear float glass, and polycarbonate need to be mentioned.
Setting Materials
Generally non metallic non corrosive non shrinking materials non staining materials need to be used.
Greenhouse Doors and Frames
The doors and frames materials such as glass panels, mechanical joints, hinges, lock sets, closers should be listed explicitly in greenhouse specifications.
