Heat Your Pool With Solar Power

Solar panels for pools have caused many inquiring minds to question how they operate and what they are able to do for the home. They utilize the power of the natural light to warm the water of both indoor and outdoor pools. With a proper setup it is possible to use them as a means of heating water for inside the home as well.

There may be some sceptics who think the setups are complicated. On the contrary, they work on a very simple principle and they are constructed of only several parts. Those parts work to capture the heat generated by the sun and then use it in order to warm the water, which then circulates in the pool water to ensure an even heating. Any pool can be set up to use solar energy to heat the water.

The key parts of such a system are a filter, solar collector and flow control valve and pump. The solar collector is the device that circulates pool water which is then heated by the sun. This type of collector can be glazed and unglazed. Glazing is a glass covering that enables the use of such a system in cold weather.

Those collectors that do not have any glazing, on the other hand, are less expensive but their drawback is that they are to be used in warmer climates where the cold temperature will not cause damage. Also, they are rather inexpensive to produce as they are made out of heavy rubber or plastic that is then treated with an ultraviolet inhibitor. Glazed collectors are more expensive because they are made from copper tubing on an aluminium plane that is then covered with an iron glass covering.

The primary purpose of such a system is to save on energy costs. Heating a pool can add a lot to a home's energy bill. Using this type of a system, on the other hand, not only lowers the energy consumption of the household in question, it is also good for the environment as it uses a renewable source of clean energy; the sun.

Even if the concept of the system is simple it doesn't mean that just anyone can install one. It's important that a certified and qualified installer does the job. Also, periodic maintenance is required to ensure optimum efficiency. A properly maintained system can last for over twenty years.

It is vital to do the research before contracting anyone to do major work around the home, and this is no exception. In any case where a contractor is required, it is important to check that such a contractor is qualified and certified. Also, it's a good idea to ask how long the company has been in business and check out any relevant references.

When it comes to solar panels for pools, it is good to know that they are an energy efficient, clean alternative to simply buying a less expensive but ultimately more costly in the long run pool heater. Along with this, the homeowner can have the peace of mind of knowing that their actions are not affecting the environment negatively.
