The City of Sydney is the largest and most populated in Australia and New South Wales. The iconic Sydney Opera House is a landmark that symbolises Australia elsewhere in the world. It boasts of 650 species numbering over 6,000 different fish and other aquatic creatures. Sharks can be viewed swimming above visitors through acrylic glass tunnels. A recreation of the Great Barrier Reef coral setting is one of the key exhibits of the public aquarium.
In 1991, Sydney Aquarium opened the first Seal Sanctuary featuring Australian sea lions and fur seals, subantarctic fur seals and New Zealand fur seals. It was closed and got replaced with the Mermaid Lagoon housing the dugongs, "Pig" and "Wuru", as unique additions in 2008. A crocodile exhibit also opened in the same year, along with other traveller attractions such as different sorts of sharks and rays interacting with the remainder of the creatures in the massive marine zoo.
A glance into the structures explained above can induce even the most unfeeling human. The grace and beauty of colourful water creatures have a tendency to wake up an inner contentment in us, often just about imperceptibly, but with a definite musical thump.
