Child Savings Account

Opening a child savings account is a fantastic way of securing a certain amount of financial support for your child’s future. One of the newest ways to raise money for your child once they reach the age of eighteen is to open the brand new junior isa. This is a new service which has been introduced this year, and will be active from November 1st 2011.

Tax Free Saving Opportunity

By opening a child saving account in the form of an isa it is possible to create a generous amount of money which can be saved tax free. There is a limit on the amount you are able to put into the account each tax year, which currently stands at £3600. It is possible to pay this amount in one go, or to make regular contributions throughout the tax year, providing you stay below the limit.

Potential Uses of Savings

With the cost of living and education increasing as the years go by it is a good idea to try and save towards the future. Tuition costs are keeping many children out of University and so you could use the child savings account to make sure that your child will not get into debt just for wanting to continue on their education.

Many children also go on to use any savings and investments that were created for them to help them get on the road. Driving lessons, the cost of the car and insurance can be a massive expense for families to pay out for, so a healthy savings account can be put towards these costs or similar expenses to help improve your child’s life in one way or another.

Work Together and Create a Generous Savings Balance

It is possible to open a junior isa providing your child is below the age of sixteen and does not qualify for a child trust fund. If you wish to save for your child then you can open an isa for them if you have parental responsibility. Once it is open it is possible for other members of your family and your friends to make contributions to help create a sizable amount of savings for your child to gain access to once they reach eighteen.
