The idea of Remembrance Day worksheets may, at first, seem odd. However, using them is definitely something you should consider.
If you are a parent and want to help your child with their learning you will find themed worksheets a very handy tool. Getting your child to work on their history, literacy or numeracy using themed worksheets that are connected to important events or celebrations in their life can really help your kids. Children are more engaged when something is presented to them in a slightly different way.
Remembrance Day worksheets are used in schools to complement a wide array of lessons and can be used at home. Most UK schools teach children all about World War I, the signing of the Armistice and explain why we remember the day on which peace was declared and pay our respects to the fallen. It is a subject that really engages children, especially the very young, so is a very effective teaching platform.
Types or Remembrance Day Worksheets
There are many kinds of Remembrance Day worksheets available. Most of them are for history and literacy and you can find worksheets to help your kids to practice what they learn from KS1 (key stage 1) to KS 5. There are even a few numeracy worksheets available.
Young children like colouring worksheets, some of which combine counting exercises with colouring. Simple word search worksheets and word mats are also great for younger children. For older children Remembrance Day worksheets that explain the events of the war and have simple questions at the end are very popular. Worksheets about the poetry and literature that was written about The Great War are also great teaching aids.

In addition to actual Remembrance Day worksheets teachers can also buy wall charts to display in class. There are also worksheets that explain events of the war with missing words to help children to learn their history whilst improving their grammar, spelling and vocabulary. For younger children there are worksheets with Remembrance Day related vocabulary which the children are asked to either order alphabetically or write a definition for. |
