Do You Really Need Pet Insurance?

If you own a cat or a dog, you'll know how expensive keeping animals can be. If you don't have any pet insurance in place, the costs could become even higher.

Of course, owning an animal is not just about the finances, there's a strong emotional bond between humans and their pets too.

Keep reading to find out the range of implications of not having a valid pet insurance policy in place.

" Expensive vet bills

If we get sick it's easy for us to visit our local GP for free. However, if your cat or dog gets sick, things aren't quite so simple.

Having no pet insurance in place leaves you open to having to pay expensive vet bills yourself. If your cat or dog goes outside a lot, they could easily injure themselves, by stepping on some broken glass for example.

An overnight stay at the local vets for your pet will cost you a lot of money and leave you kicking yourself that you didn't get around to arranging pet insurance.

" A poorly pet

If you don't have pet insurance and money is tight, you may put off taking your pet to the vet in the hope that he/she gets better on their own.

Unless you're a qualified vet yourself, it will be difficult for you in most cases to identify exactly what's wrong with your pet and treat it correctly. It's certainly not in your cat or dog's best interests for you to rely on guesswork or just hope any problem will resolve itself in time.

" Guilt

Following on from the point above, imagine how guilty you'd feel if you did postpone a trip to the vet just because you had no pet insurance and were worried about the potential costs.

Some pet insurance policies start at around £5 per month; a small price to pay to keep your pet fit and healthy.

" More expensive pet insurance

If you've not got any pet insurance at the moment and keep putting it off, there may come a time when your pet gets ill and you realise how important it is.

Pet insurance is readily available from a variety of leading UK insurers; don't be one of those caught out by high unexpected vet bills.

Author Resource:- The Co-operative Insurance has a choice of two separate pet insurance policies to suit your needs. It's wise to compare Co-operative pet insurance policies online to make sure you're getting the exact cover your pet requires.
