Russian Blue cats are a breed of cat which began in Russia. They are known as Russian Blue cats because of their silvery-blue fur colour. These types of cats, although timid around unknown people, tend to be sociable and playful with the people that they know well. They are occasionally called Archangel Blue cats. This is because they were brought to the Archangel Islands by sailors in the 1860′s. There are British Blues, that are unrelated to Russian Blue cats.
Russian Blue cats have many distinguishing features. The first, is obviously, the colour and also fur. The second is the fact that they have got penetrating green eyes. This is extremely uncommon in almost any other breeds so provides Russian Blues a distinctive appearance. These are a short haired cat, but have a dual coat of fur. This provides them a thick, luscious coat. An additional extremely unique trait is the fact that their footpads are mauve, whilst almost every other breeds are grey. Their tails have really pale stripes on them. They are so pale, most people tend not to believe that they have got any kind of stripes.
Russian Blue cats are not susceptible to any ailment or even injuries, and tend to live between 10 and 15 years of age. A Russian Blue litter might have anywhere from one to six cats, yet generally will have between two and four.
In the 1970′s, a different breed was created from the Russian Blue that was pure white. This breed is known as the Russian White it is acknowledged in several competitions.
The cats can be gentle and playful. They are shy around strangers. They love routine even more than nearly all kitties do and also detest change more than nearly all cats do. They will likely get angry with you if anything changes significantly. Additionally, they are smart cats, so don't believe that you can change something and trick them, they will never fall for that. |
