Desiccant Packs - A Widely Used Agent

Expansion of Industries in Modern Times:
Modern days have seen the expansion of industries and the business has made a phase shift from small scale to large scale. The production has gone up to enormous amounts and their delivery also takes places up to far off areas. Spoilage is also one of the most typical factors associated with industrial production and various methods have conventionally been adopted to avoid it. Desiccant packs are among the most widely used weapons against a particular type of spoilage of products, i.e. Fowl odor.
Desiccant Packs:
Desiccant packs are used on an extensive scale because of the utilities they yield. The chemical compositions of desiccant packs make them contest the odor into fragrances and thus maintain the overall condition of a product effectively. These packs had traditionally been used in shoes packs but now their application is in all the other industries too. You might well see small desiccant packs in almost every package of products. These packs absorb the factory smell too which may contaminate the finished product and ruin it. It is an observed phenomenon that bad odor is accompanied by moisture too. The moisture facilitates bacterial and fungal growth which causes the major spoilage. According to an estimate, significant amounts of industrial products used to get spoiled because of fungal growth until these packs were introduced.
Various Types of Desiccant Packs:
A number of types of these packs are being used in industries. Some major types of desiccant packs are given here. Silica gel is the most widely used desiccant and is approved by major standard maintaining authorities. Indicating silica gel is another form which is almost exactly like silica gel but it is not inert like silica gel and shows the amount of already absorbed moisture by changing its color. Some of the other widely used desiccant packs contain molecular sieve, montmorillonite clay and activated charcoal etc. Activated charcoal is one of the earliest elements to have been used in this respect. The tiny pores those are present in activated charcoal in excess, have a great absorbing ability. They can absorb not only water but they absorb pollutants, toxins and harmful chemicals alongside as well. This makes it a very used absorbent of moisture and other materials that may result in spoilage to a product. Thus, the industry has found a great product which would result in increasing their profits.
