Which Kind Of Cat Is This: Siberian Cats

Siberian is a cat breed which hails from Russia. They have been domesticated properly and love living with humans. They have been present in Russia for centuries and some consider them to be an "ancient cat breed". Others go as far as to state that they may be the ancestor of all the long haired felines!

The technical name for a Siberian is the Siberian Forest Cat. It is moderately related to the Norwegian Forest Cat. It is the national feline of Siberia. Despite the fact that this has been around in Siberia for hundreds of years, nobody brought one to the United States until the 1990's. For that reason, there are not many Siberian Forest Cats in the US.

One of the reasons that Siberian cats are so sought after is their mood. Their behaviour is in fact similar to a dog's, they work well with youngsters and are fun and smart. They are also fantastic rodent catchers. They can be really talkative breed making many sounds in addition to the common meow.

A Siberian cat was made for cold weather and thus possesses an extremely thick coat. They may be uncomfortable in places that are very hot and humid. However, they adore to play outside, particularly in the snow!

Siberian cats have loads of fur! They even have all four types of cat fur; this is extremely rare. For this reason, you need to brush a Siberian extremely often. Alternatively, although they are very furry, lots of people say that Siberians are hypoallergenic. Although this has not ever been proven, lots of people profess to not experience allergic reactions when near a Siberian cat.

Siberian cats are carnivores. Which means it is best to just be feeding them meats. Many cat foods contain grains as well as other fillers that the cat is not meant to consume.
