Traditional Golfers Elbow Treatment

If you are a golfer there is a good chance that you will suffer from golfers elbow at one stage or another especially if you play golf at the weekends then step up to playing every day whilst on holiday. The older you get the more likely you are to suffer from the condition.

What happens is that the tendons at the end of the arms long bones become inflamed because of repetitive use. It is an injury that non golf players can suffer from. It is not uncommon for weekend DIYers to suffer from the condition after using power tools.

Traditional golfers elbow treatment involves resting the joint, icing it if necessary and taking pain killers. If that does not work a doctor will prescribe stronger painkillers and may even inject painkillers direct into the area.

Alternative Golfers Elbow Treatment

Some people swear by acupuncture as an alternative golfers elbow treatment, but it does not work for everyone. Because the treatment involves needles a lot of people are understandably not willing to even give it a try. Instead those people opt for the other alternative treatment which is a course of sports massages designed specifically to treat the injury. Some people swear that this helps their golfers elbow to heal more quickly, but it still takes time.

Modern Golfers Elbow Treatment

More and more doctors are recommending the use of a gadget called Tenease as an alternative golfers elbow treatment. The gadget was originally developed to treat tennis elbow which is a very similar condition to golfers elbow except that it is the tendons on the outside of the elbow that are affected.

The Tenease golfers elbow treatment is a non-medication treatment. It works using vibration, which eases pain in the area and increases blood flow to the area speeding up the healing process. All you need to do is to strap the small vibration machine onto the affected area 3 times a day and switch it on for 10 minutes. If you want to you can continue to take pain killers when using the Tenease machine.
