World abortion statistics show that an estimated of 43% of women will have at least one abortion by the time they reach the age of 45. Nearly 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had a history of one previous abortion.

These statistics are alarming, but many women have the further possibility of complications arising out of abortions. The most common problems that can occur as a result of abortion is

 Excessive bleeding
 Infection
 Hemorrhage
 Perforation of the Uterus
 Embolism retained tissue
 Cervical injury
 Endotoxic shock
 Baggy Uterus
 Failure to recognize an Ectopic pregnancy

A simple answer to avoid abortions and complications arising out of them is to opt for the Morning after pill. This pill comes in three different varieties. One has the hormone progesterone only, the other uses estrogen and some others use a mixture of both. Morning after pills have the same hormones as the contraceptive pills, except in a higher dose. One of the question that comes to your mind is how do these medicines work? What is their function? Morning After Pills work in three ways, 1) it prevents the ovaries from releasing an egg, 2) alters the outer covering of the egg to prevent the sperm from penetrating it and 3) alters the lining of the womb so that a fertilized egg cannot attach itself to the uterus.

Morning after pills is emergency contraceptive pills that prevent pregnancy in the first place and hence do not cause artificial abortion. They are a boon to millions of women across the world to save them from guilt, abortion and suicides too.
