A New Cool Stationery Revolution

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it is a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at lifes realities". (Dr.Seuss)
In a society where children are more than ever being scrutinised and the methods of educating and learning regularly debated, one aspect is broadly agreed upon in terms of inspiring children to become more analytical and enhancing development generally; and that is by encouraging them to actively use their imaginations.
Fuelled by a desire to create products that reflected the more fun elements of learning and play in both the classroom and at home; the creators of Smudjit, Jonathan and Karen Barton developed their new online retail initiative as a means of injecting the market with a range of bespoke stationery and writing accessories designed to inspire originality of thought.
Targeting the five to eighteen age range Smudjit is attempting to revolutionise the way in which the materials that children use to write and draw on a daily basis have the capability to both enhance their enjoyment of using these materials by way of their fun and aesthetic imagery, as well as provoking more stimulative thought processes.
Stationers were originally retailers that traded near universities or roamed the country peddling their wares to scholars. Traditionally stationery has become synonymous with writing letters, invitations and note taking in diaries or for academic purposes, but with the advent of new technology and more virtual means of communication in the twenty first century, the way in which stationery is now utilised has adapted. With this adaptation Smudjit considers there are opportunities for enhancing paper products and other writing instruments for these modern-day purposes.
When you visit the Smudjit website the first thing you notice are the wonderful, unique graphics illustrating exclusive never seen before designs in stationery art. Having travelled round the world experiencing the wonders of life and landscapes most people only dream about, Jonathan and Karen Barton once again turned their dreams into a reality in 2010 with a vision for creating stationery products for children and young people. Their ambition was to design a range of individual items for children aged between five and eighteen, to provide them with the opportunity to both express themselves and use their imaginations in the classroom and at home. For many years stationery has been practical and functional, but in a World dominated by technology and availability Jonathan and Karen felt there was a market to encourage children to once again start using their imaginations, whilst having the freedom to differentiate themselves from the mass produced market offerings.
Essentially what this family team developed was a series of designs enabling children and young people to choose from a theme that complemented their own interests and passions in visually striking ways; whether vintage and quirky, urban and edgy or cute and cuddly. You can mix and match Smudjit stationery depending on your mood or activity to gain the inspiration and attitude needed to enhance creativity and productivity.
The overall concept for Smudjit is to break with convention and provide a stimulating alternative to every day stationery and writing aids. Smudjit stationery offers the fashionable choice to remain independent and individual from the crowd.
