Unique Vampire Costume Ideas that Stand Out

If you are thinking of a simple outfit to make or wear on Halloween, a vampire costume is your most likely choice. Of course, with all the different vampire movies and television series for you to base your costume choice on, you can still come up with an awesome costume that is not as plain and simple as it may seem.

There are a lot of vampire costume ideas you can use for your own vampire outfit for Halloween. There are costumes that can make you look like the latest vampire heartthrob to hit the silver screen and there are also costumes that can make you look like the traditional vampire people got used to watching in many television sitcoms and series.

If you are thinking of a vampire that is not too over-used or too simple, you might want to consider these vampire characters that have appeared in movies, books and television shows, both recently and in the past.

Akasha, the Queen of the Damned - this vampire was characterized by the late singer Aaliyah and she wears a sexy costume ideal for those who have the curves and the guts to wear it. The costume for this vampire character consists of a bra top in gold or silver, a low-waist black ankle length skirt with a gold or silver belt, an embellished choker that connects to the bra top and a gold or silver headdress. Arm bands, wrist bands and a flowing scarf connected to both arm bands completes this ensemble.

Lestat of Interview with a Vampire - this is another vampire costume that can be very challenging to create and wear. You will need to have period clothing made to get yourself to get the appearance of the character Tom Cruise popularized in the movie. You can go simple with this though, although you will need a long, bronze or golden wig tied at the nape with a black ribbon to complete the outfit. Simply find a white silk shirt with a ruffled and laced front, ruffled and laced cuffs, black slacks and black boots, and you are done. Put on white makeup and wear plastic fangs and you are Lestat.

Nosferatu - this classic vampire is also a bit of a challenge to pull together, if you are thinking of making this character your choice for a vampire costume for Halloween. For starters, you will need to have gloves that have pointy tips on them to copy the claw-like hands of this vampire. You will also have to don a cap that will make you look bald and have make-up artfully applied to give you the decaying and rotting look that this old-fashioned creature has. You will also need to wear jagged teeth and a bib-like black cape or a black trench coat over a black suit to complete this look.

If none of these choices appeal to you, there is always the traditional, Christopher Lee vampire that most everybody is familiar with or the bride vampire costume that is inspired by the vampire bride in the movie Dracula which starred Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves.
