Captivating Backwaters of Kerala

Kerala, also known as the God's own country, is amongst the Top ten of the "Paradises of the world" and also spots a place in the "Top fifty places of lifetime" as per "National Geographic Travelers Magazine". Kerala is known for serene villages, beaches covered with Palm trees and of immaculate backwaters. The Kerala backwaters mesmerize anyone with their calmness and beauty. Kerala backwaters have been divided into various regions and every region has its own significance. Every hand here can be found busy doing awesome coir work. Kasargod region is also known for the coir industry and has got mesmerizing landscapes with sea around. Four rivers can be seen coming together near Kasargod. Thiruvallam region is a part of the state capital Thiruvanattapuram and has got beauties like waterfront parks, floating bridge and some facilities for water sports.
There are a lot of things one can do while enjoying Kerala Backwaters. Most desired is the House Boats these days. A modern house boat has got all the facilities from the Power being generated from the solar energy to delicacies with Kerala's flavor. Any modern house boat will be approx 70 ft in length and approx 15 ft in width and will have from luxurious rest rooms to calm balconies to enjoy the surround while on tour. The house boats can be hired as per the size of the group. Rooms are mostly air conditioned and the dinning room is mostly open from three sides to enjoy the food and the ambience together. Imagine a full body massage in the balcony of the house boat while listening to soothing music.
Visitors can also enjoy boat race in the month of August which is primarily the Harvest season and is the time for the biggest festival of the year called Onam. These racing boats look alike a snake and are as lengthy as 30 meters and can also accommodate about hundred team members which drive the boat to the finishing point to win the title.
The other favorite things of the visitors are cycling, mountaineering and trekking, fishing and adventure sports etc. There is a long list of things to be enjoyed by the visitors which they may not be able to complete in even a 7 day tour.
