Wasp nest Removal

Wasp nest removal is a necessary service

There is a substantial difference between bees and wasps in that the behaviour of one is predictable, whereas the other is unpredictable. If a bee comes near you it will only sting if you arouse any feelings of self-protection. A wasp is just as likely to sting for little or no reason and they will almost certainly sting when aroused and attack in a swarm. The sting of a wasp is at best uncomfortable, and at worst can produce anaphylactic shock that will frequently kill. It is always advisable to stay calm in the presence of wasps, but our natural defensive behaviour as humans means we will react inappropriately.

Where to find wasps nests.

Wasps will normally nest in places where they are not overly visible so deserted buildings, or lofts of buildings such as barns are common places. However they will build nests in large hedges and in undergrowth and these are the places of the most potential danger. You may be trimming the hedge or strimming the undergrowth and disturb a wasps' nest and then they will react. They will swarm around the unfortunate person, and the effect can be most painful. Nests in buildings can often be located by shining a torch into the dark or by the noise emanating from the nest. These nests should be left undisturbed until an expert can attend to them.

Wasp nest removal.

The removal of a nest is a skilled matter and those who undertake this on a professional basis are licensed by the local council's pest control authority. Fumigating the area around carries out the removal of the wasps and will ensure that all the wasps are killed and that there is no danger to the exterminator. Once the nest has been isolated it will be removed and taken away for burning. The area in which the nest was will be disinfected so as to prevent any further nest being created.

You should only use a certified service for removal and ensure that the nest is cremated. Never try and destroy a nest yourself.
