Places To Go When Visiting San Francisco

San Francisco is an excellent, year round, destination having its cool summers and mild winter seasons. There's a various population, cultural and traditional points of interest that are part of this great city. Travel is quite easy with a mixture of street cars, cable cars, buses and subway trains.

One of the popular San Francisco attractions is a trip on one of the Bay Area cable cars. San Francisco is the only place in the modern world that continues to have manual run cable cars. Cable cars are similar, yet differ in the manner they travel across the streets. The very first car was put into operation during the year of 1873. A visit to the Cable Car Museum will help you to discover how these cars function. The museum also houses 3 of the original cable cars from 1873, like the first car which was the Clay Street Hill Railroad No.8 Grip Car. The Museum tour is free. Take a look at the museum store and take a couple of genuine cable car bells home for gifts.

One of the most unique San Francisco attractions is the Union Square District that started San Francisco's fashion district in the 1800's. In 1906, a significant earthquake changed the town, including the Union Square District. These days, it is a 1.5 million sq ft of purchasing, and dining experience. There should be no room shortage here. There's over 12,000 rooms among the many 4 star hotels and shop inns. There are multiple galleries which address every type of art including vintage glass works.

China Town, in San Francisco Bay Area, is the biggest China Town in The United States, unless you visit Asia. It's one of the most popular San Francisco attractions. The streets and alleys are full of culture, beautiful architecture, great hotel accommodations combined with the various stores.

Although the name is recognize, many may not realize San Francisco housed a prisoner, Robert Stroud, nicknamed the "Birdman of Alcatraz." Alcatraz is located on Alcatraz Island, just under 2 miles offshore from San Francisco. Another well-known inmate of "The Rock" was Al Capone. You will find several tours including a visit to Alcatraz. It is advised to book far in advance, as this is one of the most popular Bay Area attractions.

Probably the most beautiful spots is the Golden Gate State Park, that is over 1000 acres of nature. Stop for supper at the beach Chalet while enjoying a panoramic look at the ocean. Benefit from the surroundings, plants, and butterflies that add color to the scenery.

Stroll along the Japanese Gardens, which is within the Golden Gate State Park, to view beautiful plants, a geniune Pagoda and Buddha. A geniune Tea House is ready to serve genuine Japanese to you and your loved ones. This is a great spot for that perfect wedding ceremony.

There's much to find out and do in San Francisco that is free and inexpensive, which allows you to plan for the more costly activities. Plan in advance, and schedule ahead for tours to prevent waiting in line for a long time.
