Benefits of a Dog Cage.

Far from being unpleasant for a dog to be kept in a dog cage and possibly contrary to popular belief, dog cages actually offer a host of benefits to both you and your pet. Dogs always naturally seek out shelter and the feeling of security that it brings even when inside the home. That’s why it is not uncommon to see a dog hiding under the coffee table or behind the sofa. Having a space to call their own such as a dog cage provides a feeling of shelter and security which is particularly important if there are other animals or small children in the home.

Dog cages also work well as training aids. Dogs naturally avoid soiling their “home”, whether its dog kennels they have or a dog cage. This means using a cage encourages your puppy or even adult dog to hold on and wait until outside to relieve themselves. This can be a fantastic way to train a dog. Another benefit of a dog cage is you know that your puppy or dog isn’t going to come to any harm whilst you are out of the house, and that your dog isn’t going to cause a mess! No chewing of furniture can take place or rifling through the rubbish bags so you can relax knowing your house will be just as tidy and nice smelling upon your return.

You don’t have to have a cage or kennel for your dog, and many owners choose not to but it is nice for a dog to have a place they can consider their own especially if they have a quiet temperament, perhaps not enjoying so much the hustle and bustle of kids and noise that other dogs might like. If you are going to have a cage though make sure it is not out of the way as dogs like to be near their masters at all times and that it is the right size.
