Determined Gun Owners Continue To Voice Their Rights Amid Resistance
|
As the foundation of the United States of The States her citizens have been assured of their right to own and use firearms because it was one of many rights that most Americans believe is guaranteed to them by the Second Amendment of The Constitution. Although some U.S citizens don't really care if they own guns or not, there are many others that would willingly die to preserve that right. In places where the gun ownership right has been put into question, thousands always step up to fight against losing it. Anybody who would like to stop most U.S citizens from owning firearms are always going to be in for a very big battle.
If you think that the US Constitution means exactly what is says, then the Second Amendment clearly states the right of the individuals to keep and bear arms and most people do not think it can be misinterpreted at all. Still, some lawmakers want the interpretation to be that it guarantees that the United States military and National Guard are the ones that have those rights. The fear of losing their gun rights also instills in a few Americans the fear that if that right is lost to them so might other rights be lost that are presented to them by the Constitution. This fires up many citizens to fight for their gun ownership right more than before.
If you live in the US then you can't help but be mindful of how much violent criminal offenses have steadily increased in recent times. It is nothing for a criminal that intends to use violence as a means to an end to be able to get a handgun or even an assault rifle if they want one. It is normally an illegal purchase and legal gun owners are outraged that they could lose their right to purchase and keep their own guns for the sole function of defending themselves and their family against these types of criminals. All that a lot of legal gun owners want is to have the ability to ensure they at least have a fighting chance when a predicament arises where they might need to fight for their life.
On the flip side, there are some citizens in addition to many lawmakers that think that even though guns have their place, they believe that the more guns that are taking away from the people's hands the more fortunate our country will be. This could be a satisfactory theory for some gun owners if they might for a second think that it would stop criminals from getting their guns too. For most people the thought that anything can prevent criminals that want a gun from getting one is ridiculous. Even now violent offenders with a criminal past can get a gun almost anytime they want one.
There is probably not going to be an end to the debate of gun ownership in the short term because both sides are so adamant about their specific opinion of the subject. Nonetheless, every American should actually consider what it could be setting into motion if one civil liberty like the authority to bear arms is reinterpreted to mean something it genuinely does not say. If this right is changed and the legal right to own a gun is removed, how long could it be before other rights are reinterpreted and taken away as well? |
