A Short History of Dave Clark Headsets
|
Dave Clark headsets are well known within the aviation industry. They have a reputation for being the best aviation headsets available and when you get hold of a set it is very obvious, even to a layman, just how well made they are. However, few people realise just how high the standards of the company who makes them are. Their products are so good that they are used by the space industry, their main customer being NASA.
The David Clark Company started out in the early 1940s making pressure suits for fighter pilots and branched into making G suits and space suits. Without their products there flying modern jets and manned space flights would not be possible. Over time they realised there was a gap in the high end aviation industry for other items such as headsets. When they began to produce them they already had a big customer base that trusted their products, so had an immediate success on their hands.
Slowly people stopped calling them David Clark headsets and used the shortened and more affectionate name Dave Clark headsets.
What You Get When You Buy Dave Clark Headsets
When you buy Dave Clark headsets you get a great set of heavy duty headsets. They are quite weighty, but are built for comfort. David Clark’s realise that their headsets will be worn for long periods of time and in situations where you cannot afford to be distracted by a headset the pinches, feels heavy or buzzes in your ear.
All Dave Clark headsets have padded ear pads and if you sweat you can buy cotton covers to wear over the top of the pads. For extra comfort you can have the pads filled with gel. The headband is heavily padded and is designed to sit just above the head, so they do not feel heavy.
The microphones all have excellent noise cancellation meaning that you can use them in a very noisy environment and still be heard clearly by air traffic control. The microphone boom is fully flexible, so that you can adjust it for your comfort. |
