Gun Owners Won't Give Up Their Weapons
|
Whenever there has been a new law that has tried to be passed concerning gun ownership, you can bet that there have been tons of U.S citizens that were there to competition it if it in any way interferes with their right to own and bear arms. The majority of people translate the Second Amendment of the Constitution of as a guarantee for U.S. citizens to have this right and there are millions that won't ever give it up without one heck of a fight. As the US was founded any citizen that yearned to buy and keep firearms has been allowed to do so unless they had a criminal record that prevented it.
The Second Amendment states the right of the individuals to keep and bear arms. It sounds pretty clear to many Americans and unlike some lawmakers, they believe it should be interpreted precisely like it is written. Some lawmakers want it interpreted as assuring the US military and the National Guard has the right, but it genuinely is difficult to turn what it genuinely says into something else. Many U.S citizens feel that once they are stripped of their right to bear arms that other civil liberties that are given to them as reported by the Constitution can also be taken away. This is only one reason they intend to have their gun ownership right in tact.
The crime rate in the US is a fact that can't be dismissed easily. When most U.S citizens think that since violent criminals can so easily acquired a gun, they must have the authority to have one too. They think that they would be at a distinct disadvantage if they could not defend themselves against violent crimes that have become increasingly more common and more widespread. When the criminal has a gun, but likewise you have one, it seems the playing field is leveled somewhat and this makes people feel more secure understandably. Most legal gun owners want them for the sole function of being able to defend themselves and nothing more.
When you look at the other side of the coin, the lawmakers and citizens that support gun control feel that the fewer guns there are available and sold, the safer it is for everyone over all. A lot of men and women would agree with this thought if they might be reassured that criminals might be prevented from obtaining their guns illegally as well. Most men and women are not confident in the slightest that much of anything can be carried out to avoid violent criminals from obtaining firearms when they actually want to get one, so this is one of the reasons why they are adamant about not surrendering their guns.
There isn't apt to be a conclusive response to the ongoing gun ownership debate any time soon. Neither side wants to concede and stop. What should be considered by all U.S citizens whether you are for or against gun ownership and what you views concerning that might be is the fact that a Constitutional right maybe in serious danger of being redefined. If one right guaranteed by the Constitution is allowed to be reinterpreted and causes a drastic change in that right, then perhaps that other rights might follow and be changed as well. |
