Motor homes have advanced considerably since the 1960’s when they were since as being an essential part of the hippie lifestyle. In those days they were painted all the colours possible, were a psychedelic accoutrement and were almost poked fun at. The market progressed over a period of time and today reflects the type of vehicles one would find in USA, where it is almost essential to own one of these to cross from state to state.
The motor homes are now manufactured by top of the market companies and have every conceivable luxury, to the point where they are almost a full home on wheels. Kitchens, showers and sleeping areas are of the highest finish, so why but one for Scotland?
Use in Scotland.
Scotland is a beautiful country to visit, full of the most interesting and unique countryside, as well as castles and distilleries etc that demand you attention. The roads demand that you are able to take your time ,and that you are not forced into time schedules that you may be, if you were to be staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation. There is a freedom of choice the motor home gives that adds to the holiday. You are driving through a particular area of banks and braes and you decide it is time for a walk. You can park the motor home just as you would a car and walk of across the heather and relax. You can return after your walk and settle down to a hot drink with no pressure and time to discuss what you have seen.
Advantage over a caravan.
Although on occasion it is advantageous for a motor home to be parked overnight in a caravan site, there is no absolute necessity as you can sleep and shower, and then reequip later in the day. Caravans need to be parked overnight in designated areas and can be cumbersome to drive. A motor home is truly no different to driving a car. Visiting Scotland will be made easier if you take a motor home.
