Potraviny

Potraviny – A Czech delight

With the influx of people from Eastern Europe into the UK and the number of people who visit countries of this region including say The Czech Republic and Slovakia, it is not surprising that there is a demand in this country for specialised shops that sell food and drink from that region.

Shops have now been established an on-line in an effort to supply these needs as the food is different and if you visit these countries you may well develop a taste for them.

The beer and spirits are also unique to these countries and thus there is a string market for these also.

The shops that trade in such goods will have a range that stretches from the basic items such as biscuits through to such items as baby food and health products.

Cooking and preparing these foods can also create the need for special cooking utensils and accessories and again both the physical shop as well as the on-line shop will be able to provide you with these items.

As the demand broadens so the variety of goods available matches that demand and supply curve. Baby products are now available as well as gifts, diabetic products and a variety of specialist teas.

Foods that are regional are now readily available as, for example, the legendary wafers that are made in the bath town of Marianske Lazne. Many Czechs who no longer live there on a permanent basis, yearn for these delicacies that date back to the 18th century.

The importation of these foods is now much simpler that it used to be as both The Czech Republic and Slovakia and now European Union members, and thus cross border controls are now much easier to deal with, as are the various VAT regulations.

The on-line shops will have good web sites, and will offer a secure payment facility, as well as delivery to your door. For people who wish to sample these foods the web site offers very good descriptions, such that you almost feel that you do not need to taste the goods to know what they are like.

As our tastes broaden so does the choice of Eastern European food
