The iPhone 4 Offers A Great Messaging Facility

The iPhone 4 has become the most popular smartphone in the world. This popularity can be attributed to a number of factors including the extremely high specification that the handset boasts. Here we take a look at the operation side of the handset, another reason why this phone is such a runaway success.

The simplicity of the iPhone operating system is one of the appealing aspects of this phone. Other brands may try to wow the consumer with animated homescreens and multi layered interfaces but whilst these platforms look great they can often make the handset complicated to use. The beauty of the iPhone 4 is that you can pick up the phone for the first time and within minutes know your way around every area of the interface. The phone gives you a homescreen which displays a grid of icons and up to 16 of these can be displayed. These icons are basically links to all of the applications and features that you have stored on the phone. You can have numerous pages meaning that you are not restricted to how many applications you can install. Each page is accessed by swiping your finger across the screen and if you find yourself with several pages of icons you can organise your programs into folders to simplify things. This means you can have a photography folder for example which displays as one icon and when you access it all of the applications you have placed within that folder are displayed. The top and the bottom of the screen remain the same on every page of your home screen. The thin bar at the top of the screen displays information such as time, remaining battery life and network details. The larger area at the bottom of the screen has room for your four most regularly used features so they can easily be accessed at any time.

When you access any individual applications on the iPhone 4 it is pleasing that many of the programs maintain the simplicity of the homescreen. The text message facility on the phone is a great example of this. When you want to compose a text you click on the name of the friend that you wish to send it to. The next screen is where you can compose the text via the virtual keypad but the ingenious thing about this screen is that above the message you have a list of every text conversation that you have had with this person. This makes it simple to refer back to a previous text or indeed find a message that may have been sent weeks ago. E Mails are also made simple thanks to the phones ability to merge several e mail addresses into one unified inbox for an easy overview of all of your incoming mail. Thanks to push e mail being incorporated on this phone the user is notified of incoming mail by a small red not appearing besides the e mail icon on the homescreen.

Much is made of the stylish looks and the high specification found on the iPhone but equally as important to the phones success is the wonderfully simple operating system which makes the phone both fun and easy to use.
