A Review Of The Feature Packed New Blackberry Torch 9860

The popular Blackberry Torch range has just seen the addition of the Blackberry Torch 9860. This great looking handset offers all the functionality of the original Torch with many performance enhancements. In this article I will take a closer look at its key features so you can decide if it is the right smartphone for you.

If you are familiar with the original Blackberry Torch, you will notice that there is no slide out Qwerty keyboard included with this device (there is however on the new Torch 9810). Instead, the front of the handset is dominated by a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen. This has a resolution of 480x 800 and can display 16 million colours, so the display quality of on screen imagery is superb, making this an ideal handset for multimedia use.

Also, the Blackberry Torch 9860 is a great cameraphone. It has a 5 megapixel camera (2592x 1944 resolution), with a number of image enhancing features included as standard. Continuous autofocus, image stabilisation and face detection all make the job of taking great photos that little bit easier. As an alternative to still images, the camera is also capable of capturing video footage in 720p HD quality.

Once you have your photos and videos, you can store them in the phone thanks to a generous 4 GB of onboard storage. This can be increased by up to 32 GB simply by installing a memory card in the integrated microSD slot.

As a web browsing device, the Blackberry Torch 9860 is perfectly equipped to connect to the web using the optimum method based on local network coverage. In areas where 3G coverage is provided the handset calls upon an HSDPA connection which allows download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps which is among the fastest speeds of data download on a smartphone which means that web pages load quickly and YouTube videos buffer quickly. When you have the appropriate access, you can also see the handset to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, which offers a fast, reliable and secure connection. Also, many public and commercial locations offer free Wi-Fi, which is handy for users who have a limited data plan.

The Blackberry Torch 9860 is a versatile and very powerful handset. It is great for many different types of user, from business users to multimedia enthusiasts. It has some very powerful specs in terms of hardware as well as software and as an added bonus it is a very stylish device so it is sure to prove popular upon its upcoming release.
