Traffic Cones

Use Traffic Cones to control traffic on busy roads

The winter hasn’t been kind to the roads of the UK. All that freezing and thawing has caused roads to crack and plenty of potholes have started to appear. Repairs are needed and when gangs of workers undertake road repairs they often use Traffic Cones to filter traffic away from the area that’s being resurfaced. Drive down a busy Motorway and more often than not you’ll see lines of Traffic Cones in operation. They’re lined up next to each other to form a visible barrier filtering traffic from one lane to the next. High visibility Traffic Cones are easy to spot on highways and they’re the ideal safety features to use when ongoing road repairs are required.

Are Traffic Cones a uniform size?

No they’re not. Different sizes of Traffic Cones are available depending on where they are going to be used. Obviously on a Motorway when fast moving traffic approaches road works the drivers of the vehicles need to spot the Traffic Cones in plenty of time. They’ll be given plenty of warning by the use of signage but still, they need to be able to spot the Traffic Cones from a distance. That’s why the larger types of Traffic Cones stand at an impressive 1M in height and they are fairly heavy which stops them from being moved by passing traffic. Smaller sized Traffic Cones are also available and they are perfect to use as safety features on minor roads where site work is being completed.

Pack them and stack them

On first impression you might think that Traffic Cones are all one piece designs. Some are and they can be stacked on top of each other when not in use for ease of storage. However, there are also other two piece Traffic Cones that consist of a durable rubber base and blow moulded plastic centres. These Traffic Cones can be assembled quickly on site and once high visibility sleeves are slipped over the centres the Traffic Cones are hard to miss.

Whichever option is chosen Traffic Cones are handy safety features to use on site when you want to filter traffic or pedestrians away from a work area.
