For many of us the look of our garden is just as important as the look of our home. This means that we spend a great deal of time on its maintenance and choosing the items that we want to decorate it. When it comes to our garden many of us assume that a brick wall or a fence is the best thing to 'fence' off our boundaries, however if you want something that is both practical and looks great then hedging may be for you.
A garden that is marked off with a hedge can look fantastic, especially if you choose a type of hedge that blooms and especially if those blooms vary in colour depending on the time of year.
Of course there are of lots of different types that you can choose from so it is probably wise to do your homework and find the one that you like best. That said one of the most practical and most popular is laurel hedging.
Laurel hedging is so popular amongst gardeners because of the fact that it grows so fast. This means that you don't have to worry about your boundaries being unmarked for too long. It also has a thick covering when it is grown giving you the maximum privacy and security possible.
The great thing about laurel hedging is that there are different types to choose from, meaning there is a type to suit everyone. For example cherry laurel has white flowers followed by red cherry-like fruits which makes it popular however you could also choose the Portugal laurel which has white flowers and dark green leaves. As you can see these both have very different looks but are just as efficient when it comes to hedging your garden so it really is a matter of personal preference when it comes to choosing the type that you want.
