A Wonderful Experience of Tea at the Ritz


Tea at the Ritz is a unique tradition in itself. You can enjoy this wonderful tradition in the Palm Court, located to the left of the Grand Gallery, from the lobby of the Ritz hotel and restaurant. Spectacularly decorated, the Palm Court creates perfect aura and serves as a treat for the eyes of all who enter the hotel from the entrance to Piccadilly. You get to see the reflections of the marble columns in the mirror on the backdrop. The interior of the Palm Court is also very attractive. The rounded corners, oval oeil-de-boeuf windows and carved friezes undoubtedly will draw your attention. In the back of the room, forming the centrepiece of the Palm Court is a lovely fountain with the sculpture of a female figure molded in lead supported gold.

On reading this you will be quite fascinated with the idea of enjoying this unique tradition, therefore, book afternoon tea table for yourself in the Palm Court. Streams of light that passes from the central glass ceiling illuminate the entire environment of the Palm Court. And at night a couple of wrought iron hanging lamps illuminates the entire environment. The golden net, with simple geometric figures, gives a soft, golden glow to the room. Wonderful twisted metal cages featuring colourful flowers make the ambience more dramatic.

London afternoon Tea, the long living British tradition adds a complement to the environment of the spectacular Palm Court. Served daily since opening the hotel, this is certainly a great treat and every tea lover makes a point to enjoy and explore. This is definitely the best way to enjoy the quintessentially British tradition. Through the years, several well-known personalities such as King Edward VII, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, General de Gaulle, Noel Coward, Judy Garland and Evelyn Waugh have enjoyed this tradition in the wonderful Palm Court.

The Ritz truly has taken this unique tradition of drinking tea to a new level. You will be offered a wide selection of 17 different types of tea as Ritz Royal English China Oolong, Imperial Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey, Ceylon Orange Pekoe, Darjeeling First Flush and Jasmine tea. Along with tea, there is a menu of traditional savouries that you can taste which includes freshly cut sandwiches with the filling as smoked salmon, cucumber, chicken, mayonnaise, egg, grilled ham and cheddar cheese. You can also try freshly baked scones with clotted cream and wide assortment of tea cakes and pastries.
