The Samsung Galaxy S2 has achieved extraordinary success in just 85 days since its official release. With sales figures already topping 5 million units Samsung are looking to prolong this sales activity by introducing an impressive looking White version of the phone. Destined to follow in the footsteps of the White iPhone 4 this exciting version should further cement the phones position as not only the highest specification handset but also the best selling model. One of the best features of this model is its superb screen quality which we take a closer look at in this review.
Screen quality is one of the most important elements of a modern mobile phone along with connectivity options. A phone can be packed with great features but a good quality screen is needed to show these off to their full potential. The White Samsung Galaxy S2 offers one of the largest screens available at 4.3 inches. Despite making the phone one of the largest models in terms of physical dimensions the screen has obvious benefits when it comes to viewing material. In terms of resolution Samsung have opted away from the qHD quality of 960 x 540 that is offered on some high end handsets in favour of a slightly lower 480 x 800 resolution. Without multi touch the display is capable of detecting a single touch on the screen at a time. Multi touch enables several points to be detected at the same time and this offers some great benefits. Perhaps the best example of this is the excellent pinch and zoom method that is used to zoom in on any area of the display. By placing your finger and thumb on the screen then closing them together in a pinching motion the image on screen moves closer. This is an improvement on other methods such as the double tap zoom and the sliding bar that appeared on many earlier models.
