Adjustable Microscope Stage for Better Specimen Examination
|
The microscope stage has come a long way from its initial design. As science and technology has taken new strides, this humble part of the microscope that help in specimen examination has undergone drastic changes. Nowadays, there are stages that come in different sizes, shapes, designs and with many advanced features. Of all the varieties available today, the microscope stage that come with adjustable options are the most popular.
Traits of Adjustable Stage for Microscope
Before doing into the details of an adjustable microscope stage, let me first introduce you to the different parts that are integral for a microscope to perform- a base, a head attached to the support arm, the head including a lens, and an eyepiece attached to the head. So, where does the stage figure in this? This stage is attached to the support arm between the head and the base. An adjustable variety can be attached at multiple locations to offer maximum flexibility of operation i.e. examination of a specimen. This is exactly how the adjustable stage works- you can adjust it to an either greater or lesser working distance. Another system that works equally great in an adjustable stage is that you can you can use a lens changer with multiple lens positioned at a radius about an axis of rotation for comfortable viewing. Recently, manufacturers have come up with rotary and transversely adjustable stages for offering greater flexibility.
Benefits of Adjustable Stage
The adjustable microscope stage was invented to do away with the problems that are associated with the conventional stages (that are very rigid and immovable). So, what exactly are the pitfalls of these rigid stages? Well, while working in a conventional microscope, the stage operating handles are mounted on the movable stage member of the stage. Hence, it has been found that when the stage is operated, the handles are moved relative to the microscope together with the movable stage member. This makes it very difficult to touch the handles for the operation thereof without seeking them by the eyes. You would find this more evident when the stage is rotatable, especially because in most cases, the observation has to jot down his/her records on a paper by using a pencil held by his right or left hand while the focusing handles or the stage operating handles are manipulated by the other hand. This makes the whole operation very inconvenient as the stage is rotated. This is problem which the adjustable microscope stage helps to overcome.
Go for an adjustable stage to free movement of microscope handles, without affecting other elements and get the best results!
