Villa holidays can be some of the best ways to get a break and relax. For millions of us a week or a fortnight spent in villas in Spain, France, Italy or Portugal, for instance, are a source of fond memories.
Follow a few simple guidelines and villa holidays can holiday heaven rather than holiday hell. Location is said to be the most important factor when buying a home and it’s equally significant when choosing villas in Spain or any other country. For some getting away from it all in the wilderness is bliss but for others, especially teenagers, it can lead to cabin fever and even explosive rows. So, make sure that your villa is within easy driving distance of a town or, better still, access by foot to the nearest shops, restaurants and bars.
Villas in Spain can also be found at the top of steep hills with roads that are badly kept so, if you’re hiring a car, make sure that it has a powerful enough engine to handle punishing terrains. It’s great to save money and get the best deal but remember that you’ll probably need more power than is required for driving along your local high street.
Choose your companions carefully. You might be best friends at home but villa holidays are a different experience from meeting in the pub or at a local restaurant. Think carefully before choosing who you’re inviting. Holiday makers need to have frank discussions with each others about the pros and cons of sharing villas in Spain or anywhere else for two weeks.
Think carefully about the season too – villas in Spain, for instance, are sundrenched in July but this can too hot for some and in France the whole country goes on holiday in August. |
