4 of 2010's Animated Movies Coming Soon on DVD To Look Out For

2010 is shaping up to be an interesting year for animated movies. Old favorites continue to draw the crowds, while new features are making their own mark in box office history with new stories and equally impressive production. Here are a couple of this year's top animated movies coming soon on DVD that you need to watch out for.

"Toy Story 3"

This year, the "Toy Story" series is coming full circle with "Toy Story 3". In the last installment to the "Toy Story" series, Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), and the gang are back for one last adventure: finding a new home for themselves as their owner Andy is now moving away to college. You'll laugh and you'll cry with the gang as they come to realize that beautiful new beginnings can come from bittersweet endings. "Toy Story 3" is a fitting end to the story, most especially to the moviegoers who grew up alongside Andy and the gang.

"Shrek Forever After"

"Shrek Forever After" is another final installment to one of the wildly popular animated series in film history, "Shrek". Family life takes its toll on Shrek (Mike Myers) which is taken advantage of by a vindictive Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn). Erased from existence, Shrek finds himself being hunted, as he is an ogre, in an alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin is the king. Worst of all, he discovers that he and his beloved Fiona (Cameron Diaz) have never met. At all.

"How to Tame Your Dragon"

"How to Tame Your Dragon" is the new kid in the animated movies block and the not-so-little movie of the year that managed to claim the top spot in the box office by virtue of positive audience feedback. Based on the first book of the same title in Cressida Cowell's popular children's book series, "How to Tame Your Dragon" tells the story of gawky Viking teenager Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) as he aspires to be one of his tribe's dragon slayers-just like his dad, the Viking chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler). Unfortunately for Hiccup, he's not exactly built to become a dragon slayer so he has to contend with being a blacksmith's apprentice. All this changes when Hiccup manages to capture the most feared dragon of them all: a Night Fury.

"Despicable Me"

A happy suburban neighborhood is probably the last place you would expect a villain to reside in. But beneath the black house with the dead lawn lies a vast secret hideout where criminal mastermind Gru (Steve Carell) is planning to pull of the heist that would top all other heists: stealing the moon. He has everything that he needs for the heist: a small army of minions, a complete arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and land/air vehicles. Nothing will stop Gru from his plans...that is until he meets three little girls by the name of Margo, Edith and Agnes who see his potential as a super Dad.

Catch your favorite 2010 animated movies coming soon on DVD and add to them to your movie collection.
