General Laptop Tips for Beginners
|
Laptops are portable PCs in which you can still get similar functions as regular desktop computers, only lighter. Nowadays, more people buy a laptop for their work, school or for amusement needs. In time, these are becoming more affordable so it is not shocking if these gadgets became commodities next to cell phones. But every device needs constant caring and attention, so you have to know how to maintain it. Here are some common laptop tips to help you get started.
First, laptops should not be in hot and freezing places. Laptops overheat because of long hours of usage. Changing temperatures would heat these quicker which may cause these to destroy easily. Avoid going to extreme room temperatures when bringing a laptop and use an external heat sink if possible.
Avoid drinking liquids near laptops. Laptops are also electronic gadgets that are very fragile to liquids. Spilling unintentionally on these will cause short circuits that will damage the laptops.
Never place your laptop on the ground unattended. This will be a toy for your small children and pets, and someone could even step on it accidentally. Keep it on the laptop case or on the table out of your kids' reaches.
Do not put a working laptop over a soft material such as sofas and crouches. These will block ventilation inside the laptop and if you are not cautious will easily cause flames when overheated. As much as possible use tables when using laptops.
Never leave papers sandwitched between the laptop's screen and the keypad. Papers could be a great scratching tool that will damage the laptop's screen. As much as possible, separate these from your laptop.
Never let your laptop charging the whole night. Many made the mistake of charging their laptops while they snooze off and removing the charger in the morning. This will have a damaging effect especially on the battery. As much as you can, check your laptop every hour so you can see if it is full or not.
If you are frequently downloading free files, chances are the hidden viruses can infect your operating system and even slow your laptop's performance. Install an effective anti-virus software and registry corrector so your laptop will never be infected and backup your files if the unexpected happened. The best practice of all is not to download anymore, downloading files without purchasing these is piracy and it is a crime.
Never remove, clean and fix tangible objects inside your laptop. If you are not a technician, chances are you may damage your laptop even further. Ask the help of a technician or do it yourself if you are a professional technician.
When going out, place your laptop in your backpack or briefcase instead of the laptop case. This will eliminate the risks of thieves stealing your laptop. You didn't want your useful laptop gone when you needed it, do you?
These laptop tips will definitely help you in maintaining your laptop. And if you are careful enough, your laptop can still run even if years have passed. |
