The High Specification HTC Evo 3D Boasts Android Gingerbread OS

The eagerly anticipated HTC Evo 3D is about to be launched in the UK. Its success looks all but assured for many reasons. HTC has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, and the HTC Evo 3D has some of the most advanced smartphone technology available.

In this article I will look at some of the key features of this handset, to see why it is so appealing.

As the name suggests, the HTC Evo 3D has 3D capabilities. These extend to the screen and the camera. The screen measures up at a generous 4.3 inches and boasts a whopping resolution of 540x 960 which is nearly as high as the retina display on the iPhone 4. The screen utilises stereoscopic technology to trick the eye into believing it is seeing a 3D image. Aside from the 3D features, the screen is great and offers all the features you would expect; multi-touch input, accelerometer and touch sensitive shortcut keys at the base of the screen.

The camera offers similar stereoscopic technology to take its 3D images. In fact, there are two cameras on the phone, which take photos of the same object at different focus distances, so when it is viewed on the 3D screen it looks like a 3D image. When shooting video in 3D, users can enjoy 720p quality, with whopping 1080p HD quality when shooting in standard 2D mode.

There is 1 GB of internal storage provided as standard within the HTC Evo 3D to get users started off. When they reach a point where further storage is required, they can simply utilise the microSD slot by installing a memory card of up to 32 GB, so thousands of music tracks as well as photos, videos and apps downloaded from the Android Market can be stored within the phone.

As you may expect, browsing the internet is a pleasure with a smartphone of this calibre. 14.4 Mbps is the rate at which data can be downloaded in 3G covered areas, whilst Wi-Fi can also be used for a more reliable and secure connection. The latter is also ideal for those who are on a limited data plan, as it uses existing data from local wireless networks.

As with most new HTC handsets, the Android operating system is called upon, in this case the latest version of the popular software, v2.3 (aka Gingerbread). Alongside the highly customisable HTC Sense user interface, users are able to truly make the phone their own, assigning up to 7 different homescreens with various apps and widgets. All this software and hardware is powered by the impressive 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. This offers numerous benefits to the user’s experience, making everything fast and smooth.

There is so much offered by this phone that I can only scratch the surface in this article. But as you can see, it offers some of the most advanced hardware, as well as renowned Android software so it is very versatile and also powerful. Whatever it is you are looking for in a new smartphone, make sure you take a closer look at the HTC Evo 3D when choosing your next handset.
