The Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch is the most impressive handset that RIM have ever produced. The phone sports much of the functionality that has made the brand so popular whilst the design has been given an update to bring the phone much more inline with some of the more stylish phones that are currently available. With its powerful processor and improved operating system the phone looks to compete directly with some of the excellent smartphones currently available. The new OS now intergrates Blackberry Maps which makes the device an excellent satellite navigation system which is sure to appeal to the typical business user that this brand has traditionally attracted. These maps enable immeadiate access to location based services which allow you see which sites and ammenities are close to your current location. The phone also can give you step by step directions on how to find the destination that you are travelling to. Your favourite locations can be bookmarked enabling you to easily access them at a later date and maps are easy to navigate with zoom facilities incorporated to help you to precisely view the information that you need.
One of the major attractions of the Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch is its incorporation of NFC technology. Near Field Technology is a new system that enables the mobile handset to store the debit card details of the user. Your phone is simply passed in front of a sensor in outlets that accept NFC payments and the transaction completed via your mobile handset and the funds taken directly from your account. The obvious concern with using such a system is security so it is pleasing to see that it features an array of security measures to help prevent fraudulent use. The main factor in this area is the restricted range that the technology works at which reduce the potential for eavesdropping. The ideal data exchange distance is just 4cm but can be effective up to 20cms. At such short distances there is no chance of a third party getting involved in the transaction.
The Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch not only offers some revamped looks but also a host of exciting new features. The new and improved Blackberry Maps is a great addition whilst NFC takes the handset to another level where very few other handsets have ventured to date.
