Where to Find Vintage Knives for Sale

Stumbling on to vintage knives for sale can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Vintage knives are getting more difficult to find due mainly to many of them going out of circulation through other knife collectors buying them or mainly due to them being lost, destroyed or thrown away by others who don't know their true value or by those who simply don't care. For many knife collectors, finding vintage knives for sale is like receiving an early Christmas present. Vintage knives are so hard to find that many knife collectors will be willing to pay an arm and a leg just to get their hands on one. So where do most of the lucky ones find their vintage knives? Here are some places where vintage knives are commonly found.

Flea market - perhaps the most common place where you can find vintage knives are in flea markets. Most stalls in flea markets that sell junk knives have a couple of wayward vintage knives just lying around. Sometimes the owner knows that the knife is vintage but most of the time the owner just sells it for the most price he can get for it. You can get really lucky just looking around some of these flea markets.

Junk yard sales - many people who sell old knives in junk yard sales often don't know their knives are vintage and are willing to sell the knives for any price. You can try hunting at junk yard sales and if you find some really good vintage knives, you can either be honest and tell the owner what they have in their possession, or be mum about it and take home the prize. Either way, vintage knives such as those deserve to end up in the hands of people who will care for it and keep it in good condition.

Pawn shops - pawn shops are another good source of vintage knives. Many good quality vintage knives are pawned in pawn shops and are never reclaimed. Whenever you go to a new place, always try visiting the pawn shops in that place. You never know, you may find a vintage knife that is really one of a kind.

Antique stores - knives in these stores are more or less in preserved condition and will be sold for quite a hefty price since the owners of these stores know the value of each piece and have probably spent money on restoring the knife and keeping it in good condition.

Private homes - sometimes you just find a vintage knife by accident while visiting the house of a friend, relative, or an acquaintance. Most of the time, the owners of these knifes only know that their knives are quite old, but have no real idea of their value. Sometimes, the owners are collectors themselves and will excitedly show you their collection if they find out you're a collector too. If you talk to them, they may be willing to trade or sell them to you knowing you will be taking good care of it.
