Theatre Sets Being Planned For Dunfermline Panto

While summertime may be in full swing around the UK, preparations are already being made for a Christmas panto in Dunfermline, with theatre sets among the details to be agreed upon before the performances take place.

Celebrity Craig Chalmers is set to appear in Aladdin in the Fife town, the Scotland Courier reports.

The 30-year-old, who is perhaps best known for his appearance on the BBC's 2007 talent show Any Dream Will Do, will star alongside Jim Leishman, among others. Leishman treaded the boards on theatre sets last year at the Alhambra when he appeared as one of the two ugly sisters in Cinderella.

The exact stage props that will be used in this year's production have not been revealed yet. However, it is known that the show will run from December 14th until 24th.

Commenting on his attitude towards the pantomime, Chalmers said: "I am delighted to be starring in Aladdin this year at the Alhambra. I am going to be working with a very talented team and the show promises to be spectacular. Returning home for Christmas is going to be fantastic and I honestly can't wait to start rehearsals."

According to Alhambra PR manager Claire Fletcher, this year's Aladdin will feature some fantastic stage props and costumes and will be packed with comedy.

She remarked: "It's sure to be a hugely entertaining show for all the family. The Alhambra is keen to ensure that big city pantomime is an ongoing Christmas tradition here at the theatre, on a scale which will rival productions in both Edinburgh and Glasgow."

Pantomimes have long been a favourite among many Britons, particularly during the festive season. They are often seen as a great way for youngsters and adults alike to enjoy an afternoon or an evening out and many of the productions star celebrities.
