First aid courses are vital

First aid training helps prepare people for dealing with emergency situations that can arise at any time, night or day, on any day of the year. As these situations often arise at the most unexpected times, having first aid training can sometimes mean the difference between saving a person’s life and it being too late to save them.

Although ambulance crews try to get to accidents or emergencies as soon as possible sometimes having someone there who has attended a first aid course can be very beneficial in helping the victim feel more comfortable before the trained paramedics arrive. Indeed, in an emergency situation every minute the ambulance crew take to get there is vital so having someone at the scene that has been trained in first aid is such an advantage. If you consider it only takes around six minutes to die once oxygen is cut off to the body and it only takes five minutes for a person to bleed to death- having someone there who can administer first aid could really make a difference to the situation.

First aid courses not only help an individual respond to an emergency situation, but they also help give them the knowledge needed on how to best prevent accidents or other incident from occurring. This means that all health and safety measures are constantly being maintained and upheld.

Despite following all on the rules and procedures on how to prevent accidents, there will always be times when somebody falls over or someone suffers from a heart attack. Having basic first aid knowledge will help you keep the victim calm in a very stressful situation. This may help keep the victim from getting upset and it may actually help keep them more stable until an ambulance crew arrives.
