Blood pressure is the amount of pressure that the gush of blood flowing from the heart to the more distal parts of the body exerts on the arterial walls of the blood vessels. Blood pressure can be measured through the use of a stethoscope and a sphygmomanometer that puts a cuff around the distal part of the arm and whereas the stethoscope is placed right above the brachial artery to monitor the systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The normal blood pressure is 120/80 and below, if your blood pressure reads 140/90, you have hypertension or more commonly known as high blood pressure.
