The Apple iPhone 4 has proven to be phenomenally popular since its release last year. Integration with services such as iTunes and the AppStore means that the sky’s the limit in terms of customisation and functionality for Apple customers. Without a doubt, one of the major contributing factors to the success of the device is the AppStore which allows users to peruse hundreds of thousands of apps which can be downloaded at the user’s leisure. In this article I will take a look some of the benefits of the AppStore to users of the Apple iPhone 4.

The dedicated games category and the AppStore contains thousands of games which can be downloaded almost instantly. This is the perfect app for business users who like to stay productive when out of the office, as well as people like students. Within the productivity category you can also find a whole range of applications ranging from radio alarm clocks and calendars and the handy Shift Worker app, which allows users to enter their work shifts and help them stay on track of their schedules.
Gaming and productivity are just two of the 20 categories, which combined provide over 350,000 applications. Whilst competitors such as Android Market offer an alternative, they are currently nowhere near the scale provided by the AppStore. By taking advantage of the hardware of the iPhone itself, there are seemingly infinite possibilities when it comes to new applications.
Without the AppStore, the iPhone 4 would probably still be successful but nowhere as popular as it is thanks to the apps available.
