Creating Buzz for a New Business
|
Creating buzz is hard enough for any business, but for a new business trying to make its way amongst well established companies and brands, it can be even harder. Those with a very obvious hook or gimmick, located in an extremely good location, may be able to create buzz simply with a few teasers, some adverts and some well placed ‘Coming Soon’ signs. However, not every company will have the benefit of being located in a great position, or indeed even have a presence on the high street at all. So how do these companies create the same level of buzz as those lucky few with location on their side?
Firstly, it is worth remembering that it isn’t always what you’ve got that matters, but how you use it. You could have the best location in the world, but if your facade and indeed interior aren’t presented in the right way, not even the most alluring ‘Coming Soon’ sign is going to drag people in. However, if people see an attractive building, no matter where it is located people are far more likely to remember it and be lured into coming back come the opening day.
Using clever and attractive architectural lighting is beneficial for stores as well as premises that won’t be dealing with customers. For stores, the right exterior shop lighting will help to make people want to head inside as the aesthetics alone can make a business seem very alluring. For those who have just opened or will be opening soon, the right shop lighting can be as important as the adverts you place and the services or products you offer.
For other businesses, architectural lighting can be equally as important. Having an attractive facade will mean that people are not only far more likely to notice and in turn remember your name, but it will also mean that people have positive associations with your business and will either actively look to find out what you do or simply remember you fondly should they ever need to use the services you offer.
Obviously adverts are also going to play a major role. The key to such advertising is to make it stand out. If you want to build buzz around a new brand, you need to ensure you stand apart from your competitors. Teaser campaigns are always very effective, drip feeding information to potential customers and allowing them to actively want to find out more. Ultimately, such campaigns can mean that the customers do the hard work for you.
Of course, only a certain demographic will indulge in such things, therefore you also need to ensure you have other approaches to attract other demographics. Paying people to talk about you and ensuring that you get your name everywhere you possibly can will mean that a certain sense of expectancy and intrigue will grow, meaning that people will simply want to know what all the fuss is about.
You can build buzz in many different ways, and ultimately the more approaches you take, the more buzz you will find you can build.
