An Introduction To The Pocket Friendly HTC Gratia With An Impressive Touchscreen

The HTC Gratia offers a great choice for those looking for the functionality of a touchscreen and the features of the Android operating system, encased in a compact handset. This article will take a closer look at this stylish handset, and give an overview of a few of its key features so you can decide if it is the right smartphone for you.

As mentioned, the HTC Gratia is a relatively compact device. It measures just 103.8x 57.7x 11.7mm, whilst weighing in at only 115 grams, making it one of the lightest Android smartphones available. Thanks to its compact dimensions and light weight, it is a very comfortable device to hold and use, and as an added bonus it does not take up too much room in your pocket.

The front of the handset is dominated by the 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen. Able to display up to 256,000 colours, it does a great job of displaying on screen content in great clarity and quality. It is also a great screen for viewing your handiwork that you have captured on the built in 5 megapixel camera. With a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944, the resulting still images are of very good quality. The camera comes with autofocus functionality, face detection and geo-tagging as well as the ability to shoot video footage as an alternative. Overall, the camera is very good, versatile, and of a higher quality than you would expect from such a compact device.

HTC Sense is one of the major draws of the HTC Gratia, and indeed the majority of HTC smartphones which run Android. As well as up to 7 customisable homescreens, HTC Sense comes with numerous features which make everyday use that little bit more convenient. The FriendStream app is an example of this. It allows users to integrate their Facebook and Twitter accounts into one realtime feed, so you can check status updates from each site rather than have to keep logging into each one individually. Another feature of HTC Sense is the ability to mute ringing simply by turning the phone over. This is particularly handy in situation such as meetings if you have forgotten to turn your phone of or set it to silent mode. Also, this way the caller can leave a voicemail without you having to hang up on them.

The HTC Gratia offers so much more than I have covered in this article. The ability to browse the web, store and listen to music files (thanks to an internal media player which supports numerous music and video file formats), and numerous other functions are all included right out of the box. Users can even download additional apps from the Android market, increasing the potential functionality vastly. It is great to see a compact device with such high functionality in an age where phones seem to be getting bigger and bigger due to an obsession with having larger screens. The HTC Gratia is a great choice for those who want a compact Android smartphone, but don’t want to sacrifice functionality to achieve this.
