Slackline
|
For you know whether you want a slackline or not, you will probably want to know exactly what they are used for. Slacklining is a new extreme sport that has started to take the world by storm. It may be something that is new and unheard of in the mainstream, but to those in the know it is a sport that is becoming more and more popular.
Slacklining requires a great deal of balance and strength. A length of webbing is put between two anchor points and you are required to balance on this. The image of that probably conjures up something similar to tightrope walking. Although the concept is similar, the slackline that is used is a very different material which makes it a very different sport. The webbing used is very stretchy, which means that when you are on it, it has an almost trampoline type effect.
Once people have mastered the art of slacklining you go onto one their skills learning a variety of different stunts and tricks, each one getting harder and more complex than the next. Lots of them are similar but they incorporate higher jumpers or longer holds, meaning it takes a higher skill level to pull it off.
Although slacklining might be a new concept too many of us it has actually be around since the 1970s, it is thought to have first been developed in California by a ground of climbers looking for something more fun and exciting to do.
So if you are someone that wants to take up slacklining then you will need to get your hands on some slackline. As this is still an unknown sport you probably won’t find any of the equipment that you need in your local sports shops. So instead you may need to turn to internet shopping to find what you are looking for. There are different retailers that sell theses, so just make sure that the one you buy from is one that sells high quality products, after all you are going to be balancing on these so you need them to be good! |
