GMAT And GRE Syllabus Designed For Testing The Aptitude As Well As The Core Knowledge

In recent years, the trend to study in foreign universities is rapidly picking up. The number of students appearing for the foreign universities exams was not very high. But now, it is the dream of many students as well as their parents to study different courses in the foreign universities. Much of this trend could be attributed to the bright prospects that are found when passing from these universities.
Also, the relaxation of various visa and student norms by the different countries has been in favor of such aspiring and ambitious students. Also adding to this frenzy is the opening up of new courses in established universities and various new colleges as well. This kind of an approach has helped students prepare for the entrance exams for studying in the foreign universities with more zeal and enthusiasm.
To prepare, the students need to be conversant with the syllabus of these tests which can be known from previous year’s prospectus and through the internet. GMAT syllabus usually consists of reasoning, quantitative and data interpretation. The quantitative part consists of simple arithmetic and algebra while the verbal reasoning has questions mostly from the English language and includes the reading comprehension and writing ability.
Most of the coaching institutes also provide the GMAT syllabus and train students based on them. The Graduate Record Examination or well known as GRE is a test for management and engineering or science degrees and has two parts. The GRE general test is aimed at judging the students about their knowledge in quantitative aptitude and English language while the GRE subject test is aimed at the testing of the knowledge in the stream in which the students are interested for higher education.
For pursuing the master’s degrees or the Ph.D courses in science, the students need to have a strong knowledge of the science subjects. The GRE syllabus can be found in the internet or from previous year’s prospectus as well as from the coaching institutes. Many coaching institutes have opened up which have either mixed teachings of many subjects or are exclusively for the GMAT or GRE.
These institutes help in the students to be aware of the various topics in the syllabus and give a thorough coaching in the particular subjects. The students have a particular advantage of understanding the syllabus. This helps in the covering of various topics before the exams. They can give more stress on the topics that they are weak in and only revise those which are already known to them. This ensures that, by the time the exams are due, they are well versed in all the topics and therefore stand a better chance at securing good marks.
The knowledge of the GRE syllabus is essential as the test is aimed at testing the skills in the basics of the subjects that students are keen on taking up in the foreign universities. As the number of students is increasing every year, the aspiring candidates should brush up their science knowledge if they are applying for masters in science. |
