Galvanised sheet metal is resistant to corrosion

When looking for a sheet metal product that can endure the rather wet weather which seems to becoming more commonplace in the UK, galvanised sheet metal could well be the ideal solution. Sheet metal that has been galvanised has, for many years, proven that it is extremely resistant to corrosion due to the protective barrier that is formed. Yet galvanised sheet metal continues to be somewhat undervalued.

Whilst being recognised as extremely tough offering long lasting protection against adverse weather, these performance benefits means that it is generally more difficult to manipulate and shape than some other types of sheet metal to all but the experienced user.

This is because once sheet metal has been galvanised, that protective barrier that is formed makes the sheet metal stiffer when compared to some of the softer metals such as brass or copper which means it will not be as easy to shape. This should not however detract from the extreme protection offered. Hot dip galvanised sheet metal does not even need to be painted if you don’t want to even though it will readily accept painting.

At Metal Off Cuts, we have invested heavily over the years in both our people and the very latest technology, so the quality and consistency of our sheet metal cutting is assured. Our customers, domestic and commercial alike, enjoy galvanised sheet metal up to 2000mm x 1000mm, cut to size to within some very exacting tolerances with thickness varying from 0.8 to 3.0mm.

It is worth remembering, when looking to appoint a supplier, to ensure that they are equally able to supply you with all the fixings and brackets you may require duly galvanised as well. Otherwise, you risk having to replace those on a more regular basis as they will not last anywhere near as long as your galvanised sheet metal.
