Are sandwich boards out of date as an advertising form?
|
Sandwich boards can be seen as an old fashioned way of advertising and have been popular as a form of advertising goods for the last few centuries. Men would be hired to carry the signs up and down the street promoting a tradesman’s goods and services and two signs would be fastened together at the shoulders of the men, hence the name sandwich boards.
Nowadays, it is rarer to see people walking the streets laden down with a sandwich board. However, that is not to say that as a form of advertising, the principals behind sandwich boards – more commonly known as A boards now – are not relevant or effective in today’s society. They can be used to great effect in promoting sales or products or generating publicity for your retail outlet and are relatively inexpensive.
Securing a store location on the main high street in town can be very costly in terms of rent and maybe your retail location is off the main street. Perhaps you can use A boards in areas of town where there is high footfall traffic with directions to your store to instruct passersby to your shop.
If you place A boards outside your shop or cafe, it can portray a friendlier impression to shoppers and almost welcomes them into your store. Unlike when you place advertisements on the radio or in the local newspaper, point of sale displays can appeal to the impulse shopper who might simply be on the high street open minded and ready to be tempted by an offer or product promotion. Here at Tradewind Displays, we can supply a range of point of sale displays, such as A boards at very affordable prices and help with the design of your branding to ensure you get the results you want. |
